Contributing to the Shorewall Wiki

Please read this page carefully in order to ensure that your contribution to the wiki meets the necessary guidelines.

Language and Translation

The primary language of the wiki is English. That is not to say that articles cannot be in another language. However, foreign language articles must be accompanied by an English translation. There are two ways that you can accomplish this. One is simply name your article, e.g., FooBar, and then include text in both languages in that one article. You might do this by alternating paragraphs in one language and then the other, or by having the entire article first in one language then the other. Choose whichever makes the most sense for you depending on the length of the article, remembering that articles have a tendency to grow. Another possibility (and more desirable if there are more than two languages involved) is to name the English language article, e.g., FooBar, and then name the Russian article similarly, e.g., FooBarRu, and then perhaps the Spanish article something like FooBarEs. The last two letters should always indicate be ISO language code for translated pages.

If you speak a langauge other than English, please feel free to translate articles that others have written into your own language.

If you feel that your English language skills are not good and you would like someone to review your article after you have written it, you can request that someone review it on the shorewall-devel@lists.sourceforge.net mailing list.
